Weld India 2011 – a 3-day International Exhibition on Welding Technology, Metallurgy, Material Testing, NDT Testing, Robotics, CNC Machines, Brazing & Soldering Equipments, Steel, Aluminium, Non Ferrous Materials and other Allied Fields is scheduled to be held during 21 to 23 July 2011 at the Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai, India.

The Chennai Trade Centre is architecturally and technically designed “state-of-the-art” Exhibiti on Complex. The air-conditioned halls have no pillars or columns, and are thus eminently suitable for multi-purpose use of organizing exhibitions, conferences, conventions and conducting other trade, commerce and industry-related events.

Chennai – The City
Weld India 2011, The 63rd Annual Assembly and the International Conference will be conducted in Chennai, the largest city in South India and the fourth largest in the country. Chennai, is a journey into timeless India, a kaleidoscope of moods, rich in the treasures of history, from temples and shrines to forts and palaces, the landscape of the past lives easily with the present. Chennai is the capital city of Tamil Nadu.

A good network of roads connects Chennai with all important places in Tamil Nadu and many cities in South India. Both Government and Private bus operators ply state-of-the-art buses from Chennai to these places. The public transport in Chennai run by the State Transport Corporation is outstanding. Mahabalipuram
Globally renowned for its shore temples, Mahabalipuram was the second capital of the Pallava kings of Kanchipuram. 58 kilometers from Madras on the Bay of Bengal, this tiny sea – side village of Mahabalipuram, is set in a boulder – strewn landscape. Tourists are drawn to this place by its miles of unspoiled beach and rock-cut art. This unspoiled seaside village on the Bay of Bengal has miles of beaches, fine Indian seafood, exceptional art, and intricately carved stone temples. In Mamallapuram the Five Rathas, the Shore Temple, and Arjuna’s Penance are impressive examples of Pallavan work.

Kanchipuram
Kanchipuram is one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites in India and the seat of the Shankaracharya. The city is situated around 70 km from Chennai in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was under the Pallavas from 6th to 8th century A.D and later became the citadel of Cholas, Vijayanagar Kings, the Muslim and the British. It has been a centre of Tamil learning, cultural and religious background for centuries. Kanchi is also known centre of the finest silk sarees made in the country. Kanchi has magnificent temples of unique architectural beauty bearing eloquent testimony to its glorious Dravidian heritage. Adi Sankara established his episcopal seat.

Pondicherry
Situated on the Coromondel coast, about 160 kms south of Chennai, lies the Union Territory of Pondicherry. The French ruled this territory for 300 years, and today it stands testimony to French culture and ethos in India. Sri Aurobindo Ashram and its offshoot, Auroville, are the main attractions in Pondicherry and are located about 10 kms outside the town.
