About India
India, currently ranked as the 4th largest economy in the world, presents a favourable investment climate due to its rapidly growing market, significant improvement in operational efficiencies and labour productivity, improved top line growth together with better profitability resulting in assured return on investment. The great potential of the Indian market is typified by the growing resilience in its economy, most attractive demographic dynamics and great reservoir of skilled manpower.
Major projects envisaged in diversified sectors like Steel, Power, Oil refining, Chemical, Automobile, Defence etc. promises a lot in terms of growth of the Welding Industry in India. The current scenario suggests an annual expenditure of 25 million US dollars for brazing, soldering, resistance and other exotic welding machines, 75 million US dollars for arc welding equipments and 400 million US dollars for welding consumables. The amount of welding consumables to be used is expected to rise from 400 million US dollars in 2005-06 to 500 million US dollars in 2007-08 i.e. a rise of about 20% in two years. In years to come, the Indian welding market envisages extensive use of high strength steel & cross country welding consumables, low alloy electrodes with low impurities and high end grades, surfacing consumables for high temperature, shear blades, steel mill roll surfacing, and stainless steel solid/FCAW wires, electrodes for duplex stainless steel and Ni alloys and chrome-moly MIG / MAG / SAW wires. SMAW consumables of Cr-Mo steel are wholly manufactured in India while those of stainless steels and nickel and cobalt base alloys are imported. Similarly, a major part of MIG/MAG and GTAW consumables and all of SAW consumables of Cr-Mo and stainless steels and nickel alloys are wholly imported. Korea,Japan, UK, Germany, Sweden, Italy and Holland are some of the major suppliers of consumables to India. Besides a number of Indian companies, welding equipments are also supplied by a number of countries such as Japan, US, Finland, Austria, France, Germany etc. The potential requirements of the Indian welding industry in welding equipment and machinery in the near future involves low cost automation aids that increase productivity, automatic welding machines for cross country pipe lines, portable trouble free inverters for SMAW/TIG, low cost, low power consuming MIG machine and equipments for Laser/EBW & other exotic processes. This exhibition presents a life-time opportunity for the leaders in welding consumables and equipments, and other allied industries such as NDT, micro-structural and properties characterisation, to display their wares to attract the prospective Indian consumer and gain a foothold in India.
